2009-2012 Escape Brake Simulator c1012

What type of screws and size held the simulator to the brake assembly, ie torx, allen, security? Is the hole near the spring a weep hole? Has anyone disassembled the simulator unit?
Here is the simulator, credit hippo the hybrid.

I can't answer your questions except that no, the old defective one was not taken apart. The old fasteners were probably reused. In our case, the power brakes were not lost but the illusion of having power brakes was lost so it was difficult, actually very difficult to brake. As you know, most of the braking is done through the regeneration mode and the actual hydraulic brakes play a secondary role in normal, non emergency braking.. To be comfortable driving a hybrid, the manufacturer has to create a subsystem that makes the braking force appear "normal". Part of that system involves a brake pedal feel sensor which is the part instrumental shown above that allows the driver to feel that the brakes are operating with a feel similar to a non hydrid or non ev vehicle.

If you look at my brake pedal feel sensor post a couple of years ago, there are 3 long mounting bolts seen. Unfortunately the head type are difficult to discern their type.

I tried zooming the bolts in your picture and I also could not tell. I'm thinking of drilling a hole near the top and squirting electronics cleaner into the simulator. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ira

Bolt heads are torx PLUS t30 tamper proof.
